SAFEL
Our Company was created in 1989 and our plant is located at BRUYERES-LE-CHATEL close to PARIS.
Our main activity is electron-beam welding and laser-beam welding, applied to aeronautical industry, nuclear industry, medical industry, ?K
Our machine shop is made up of 9 EB welding machines and 4 lasers.
We are qualified according to EN/AS/JISQ 9100 and ISO9001 and we are working on NADCAP
Electron beam welding
Conceived in vacuum, electron beam welding uses the energy of an accelerated electron beam and concentrated by magnetic fields.
The metal pieces to be assembled are placed on the beams trajectory; they are increased to fusion temperature by the conversion of kinetic energy of electrons into thermal energy during the impact.
The density of power obtained, about 100 times superior to that of the arc, allows you to realize deep and narrow cordons. Such cordons are impossible to obtain today with other welding procedures.
Advantages of the process:
- Nearly no linear shrink, thanks to the narrowness of the melted zone.
- No angular shrink.
- Easy preparation of the elements to be welded
- High welding speed (for instance: 3 m/min).
- Exceptional quality; the vacuum fusion protects the pieces from oxidation.
- Good homogeneity of batch thanks to electromagnetic stirring.
- According to the materials, the penetration varies from 1 to 50 mm, without filler metal.
However, the pieces to be assembled must be perfectly non magnetic.
LASER beam welding
This procedure uses a monochromatic light beam concentrated over the surface of the piece to be welded by an optical converging device.
The high density of light obtained, approximately 10 kW at 1MW/cm2, is largely superior to what can reflect most metallic materials. Most energy absorbed will elevate to a fusion temperature that will allow welding. The welding is done without extra metal, under a neutral gas in order to avoid oxidation.
Such welding presents similar performances to that of an electron beam ; in addition the absence of vacuum allows an increase in productivity.
Advantages of this process:
- Nearly no linear shrink, thanks to the narrowness of the melted zone.
- No angular shrink.
- Easy preparation of the elements to be welded.
- High speed welding.
- Outstanding quality.
- At the moment we master a range of penetrations from 0,10 to 6 mm, however we work constantly to enlarge this line of penetrations.
