| A 5-axis Machining Center moves a part or a tool on five different axes at the same time. 3-axis machining centers move a part in two directions (X and Y), and the tool moves up and down (Z). 5-Axis machining centers access two additional rotary axes. 5-sided machining, also known as 3+2, is the process of setting up a part one time and machining five sides using a 5-axis machining center instead of machining the part one side at a time using a conventional 3-axis machining center, such as machining impellers or turbines. | |||||
